What's Happening IN ROOM 138?!...
Classroom Management Plan
This year Foster 4th grade will continue to use a token economy system to monitor behavior. The students will receive points throughout the day from me through the use of ClassDojo. They will earn points for following expected classroom and school behaviors. These expected behaviors fall under our 3 PBIS pillars of Being Respectful, Being Responsible, and Being Safe. Going along with earning points, students may also lose points for unexpected behaviors. In ClassDojo, each child has their own "profile" through this app that keeps track of their points and allows parents the opportunity to join and keep track of their child's progress.
The points students earn from ClassDojo will correlate with our school wide PBIS system of earning Pride Paws. The number of points students receive will be traded in for the same number of PAWS. At the end of an earning period, students can trade their PAWS in for some classroom prizes. These PAWS also go toward a whole school collection and random winners are chosen by the office weekly.
L.I.O.N. Folder (Lets Include Organization Now)
Students in fourth grade use a LION folder as their "Take Home Folder". The folder has designated areas to help keep students organized. When students receive homework they put it right in their LION folder. There is a "return to school" pocket for homework and other papers such as "correct and return" papers or notes from the office. Each day, students take home their mail so please review these papers with your child and discuss what we are doing in school. When schools and parents work together to help children in their learning, the children feel good about school and have better skills to succeed in the classroom.
Weekly Assignment Sheets
Weekly assignment sheets are filled out every school day. All homework and important information/events will be written in these assignment sheets. Please be sure to check this in their LION folder each night.
Homework
Homework is a very important component of the learning process. You should expect your child to have weekly homework assignments. Every week your child will receive either a Math OR a Reading spiral review homework page. This homework is designed to not have problems related to what they are currently working on but also review old skills so that students remember what to do. We know that families are busy with different events and activities so the entire worksheet is for the whole week and is due on Friday. This way students can work on this at their own pace and work on managing their time throughout the week.
If your child is continuously missing any assignments, a note will be sent home for a parent signature and your child will make up the work during recess that day.
